Great men and women have fought for equal rights and freedom of speech for decades. Today, their offspring are reaping the fruit of liberty to give expression to their skills and abilities in quite some extraordinary ways. The Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi, allows men and women to enhance and embrace intercultural performance with content and character.
Personally I don't see the OWG as the place for discussion on gay rights. There are many countries in the world where human rights are violated on a daily basis, that should also be of concern. Read our main story where at times in previous Olympic games, discriminative practices were the name of the game.
Let me be honest, based on my personal beliefs and values, I do not condone same sex marriage. However, in my interaction with people of different morals, beliefs and values, mutual respect is the basis to not cast the first stone.
The lives we live should not be overshadowed by disputes on race, religion, nationality, nor gender, but should be lived at its fullest with Content and Character.
