During the signing of the act, the royal children were dressed in yellow; a beautiful bright color that signifies joy and happiness and the freshness of spring.
The new Queen was dressed in royal blue during the ceremony. This color, as the name already says, is royal and sophisticated. It portrays great leadership qualities and shows that she has faith in herself, her husband and the future. She starts her new position besides her husband with the intention to support her husband in his task and approach her own task with a practical mindset. This color also communicates peace and calmness, implying a sense of confidence and trust in the future. With this color she is communicating that she is ready for her task and actually enjoys the challenge to make it a success.
For the Royal Portrait Maxima wears the color burgundy, a color that signifies that she has a mature approach to life and that she can handle her new authority and power with grace and elegance. She has determination and strength and an elegant and refined approach to get what she wants. She will give it her best; however, she also expects these qualities from others.
During the farewell dinner then evening before the coronation, Princess Beatrix wore a soft violet outfit at the end of the day, a calming and relaxing color. By wearing this color, Queen Beatrix is showing that she is allowing herself more quiet time and space to daydream. It is now time for herself and the things she maybe have not done while she was a Queen.
